MIDVILLE DODGERS WALSH AND CONLISK SELECTED TO METRO STARS
Jason Conlisk and Shawn Walsh(left) of the Midville Dodgers were selected to the prestigious Metro Allstar team which will travel to Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida in the coming weeks to compete against other teams throughout the country and display their talents to pro and college scouts. They will follow in the foot steps of previous New York impact ballplayers and high school stars as Jason Marquis, 1st round selection of the Atlanta Braves, George Carrion , 7th round selection of the Texas Rangers, Anthony Florelli - full scholarship to Old Dominion University and Brian Tuthill, full scholarship to St Johns University.
This hand picked team was a bi product of the Metropolitan Showcases held in late August and early September at St John University and the Babe Ruth Complex in Staten Island. Over 350 players showed up at the showcase to display their talents in front of numerous pro and college scouts and the best among the best were picked to participate in the upcoming showcases. Major League Scouts of the Mets, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Braves were among the pro scouts in attendance as well as college coaches from such elite schools as St John's University, Manhattan College, and Fairfield Conneticut to name a few.
The team will compete at 3 of the country's top high school showcases : the Lehigh Valley Showcase (Pennsylvania) on Sept 13 & 14, the Sunshine Classic (Sarasota Florida) on Sept 25-28) and the Virginia Fall Classic on Oct 3-6.
Both the talented Conlisk and Walsh recently participated in The Empire State Games held in Albany New York this past August and each pitched the New York City team to complete game victories. This past July, Jason Conlisk received another honor as he was selected as MVP of the July 4th classic in San Diego California and while there, was scouted by the Major League Scouting Bureau.
The Midville Dodger Organization stand behind our ballplayers and wish them the best in the showcases and hope they continue to impress, excel and reach their dream to play ball at the collegiate level and beyond.

ACTION FROM THE AUGUST SHOOTOUT TOURNAMENT IN WEST VIRGINIA
POLAK SHUTS OUT NEW YORK CADETS IN OPENER
The Midville Dodgers came to West Virginina for the August shootout with the same young 17 year old team that won the division in Long Island's Baseball Association. The only addition to thew team was the Bayside Yankee's Brian Goldberg who replaced another player who couldn't make the trip.
Though the Dodgers traveled over 400 miles for the prestegeous tournament, the luck of the draw had placed their opening game against Pete Serra's very talented Cadets from Queens. The Cadets, a class team, featured some of the best ball players in the New York area - players like Billy Hanft, Joe Farley, Casey Koslowski, Gabe Solano, Mike Fahid, Dave Voyer, Pete Serra and Steve Adams. A really tough assignment for any team.
The Dodgers sent Rob Polak to the hill to face the Cadets Joe Farley. Polak, a
control pitcher and real gamer, is the type pitcher, who when he's on, is tought to beat.
The Dodgers drew the coin toss and and the home team advantage. The Cadets leadoff batter, Dave Voyer drew a walk and was promptly gunned down trying to steal by Dodger catcher Ron Scrimenti. Polak then retired 10 of the next 12 batters he faced. The Dodgers meanwhile had just as little success against Joe Farley. They did however, miss on a scoring opportunity in the 1st as Brian Goldberg was thrown out at the plate by 2nd baseman Spano
who threw one right on the money to Cadet catcher Billy Hanft. A nice block by Hanft keep the sliding Goldberg from reaching the plate. Singles by Langer and Roman were all the Dodgers could manage off Farley through 4 innings. With the score knotted at zero the Dodgers drew blood in the bottom of the 5th. Pinch hitter Sal Como led off with a walk. Mike Donnelly doubled down the line putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. Mike Langer then singled to center driving both in and given the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. After Polak retired the side in order in the 6th, the Dodgers managed to pick up 4 more runs in their half. Scrimenti reached 1st on an error. Pinch runner Gabe Letteri promptly stole 2nd. Chris Conlisk sacrificed Letteri to 3rd. Anthony Roman's single drove in Letteri and after Como grounded out to short, Mike Donnelly hit shot off the fence in left field bringing home Roman. Singles by Langer and Eddy brought home a couple of more and the Dodgers took a 6- 0 lead into the last inning. With Polak maintaining his composure, he retired the side 1-2-3 and the game ended as pinch hitter Eddie Kull grounded to 2nd baseman Chris Conlisk. Nice defense on both sides; but, particularly the Cadets Mike Fahid's diving drab off the bat of Brian Goldberg and the Dodger's Ron Scrimenti gunning down 2 runners, once again proving he has one of the best arms around. in picking up the win, Polak allowed only 2 singles. One to Mike fahid and the other to Casey Koslowski. Most of the Dodger offense was provided by Mike Donnelly (2 doubles & 1 RBI), Mike Langer (3 hits & 3 RBI's)) and Anthony Roman (2 hits & 1RBI)
