STOKES HURLS 4-HIT GEM AS DODGERS WIN 2-1
(moundsville West Virginia)
Dodgers 2
SS Illinois 1
Rain put a damper on the Dodgers schedule as the game against the Long Island rebels was rained out. This set the stage for 2 games on Saturday. The 1st was against South Shore Illinois. Dodger Ritchie Stokes was asked to do the throwing and giving the instructions to just throw strikes. Throw strikes he did as he came out on top throwing a complete game 4 hitter against Illinois. It wasn't an easy win as the Dodger bats were virtually silent managing only 2 hits a single by Mike Langer and a single by Anthony Roman. Control problems by the Illinois started helped the Dodgers as they received 8 free passes leading to the 2 Dodger runs. Stokes meanwhile was overpowering as he struck out 10 and walked only 2 in picking up the win.
